Abby Cox Document Treatment Templates

Since the beginning of my career, I have dreamed of making a document treatment template that would be truly customizable enough for an explainer Youtuber to use it. When I reached out to Abby she gave me the opportunity to work on a toolkit for her where she would be able to adjust the timing/typle of the clip and the size/texture/color/underline/call out of the document.

Process
Design:
Since we were starting this project from scratch, I sent a few mood boards to Abby. We decided to draw inspiration from vintage valentines, paper dolls, and play theatres. Once we agreed on a direction, we moved on to the design phase.
Sourcing Materials:
Most of the materials were sourced from the Met Archives, which have a wonderful collection of cards that were sold in cigarette boxes. I also incorporated some vintage paper memorabilia that Abby had in her collection.
Coding:
The design process was straightforward, so the coding went fairly smoothly. My main concern was figuring out how to make the comps adjustable in a user-friendly way. Since Abby wasn't a regular user of After Effects, I was hesitant to have her use keyframes to retime the clips. In the end, I protected the beginning and end of each of the pre-comps, allowing her to retime them using the stretch time property.
